Just got in - excited to meet everyone tomorrow. Sure, I'll still try to webcast! bananalama.gif

I don't trust any (first-time attempt?) live stream; California tried it at 2010 state and it didn't go well at all.

Students just went in to start testing. They literally could take nothing in with them. Students were asked to take their id's and pencils to their coaches. Is this a new policy?

Oh that's smart. I'll just send in Sankarian as one of the Texas Varsities, why don't I? No way to tell...

Dude, I wish there had been no clothes for testing! Given the stares I got while fully clothed at regionals my year, I probably would have been one of very few people to actually finish the tests. Haha.

Will do! I met them earlier - they're a great group!

Super Quiz relay due to start in about 20 minutes. Teams getting pumped and doing the wave, led by Alaska in the first row. =D

Band playing Colors of the Wind from Pocahontas (sp?). Yay!

For anybody who hasn't seen it yet, California is putting up some of the best nationals coverage I've seen on their Facebook page: pictures of Granada meeting Rockwall, etc. https://www.facebook.com/AcademicDecathlon

Big round of applause for all the Decathletes and the USAD board.

Cheers to all of the state directors too. Pwaa-pwaa!

Comic relief from the Maine state director, who tells me that while he was orienting the flag bearers, he jokingly told them: "Oh, I forgot! You need to sing your state's song as you walk to the stage!"

V7's going up, to thunderous applause.

Round 1/9

63% of Varsities got it right on the first question!
39% on the second.
47% on the third.
32% on the fourth.
50% on the fifth!

Questions seem easier than what I saw at California state.

Scores from all states will be displayed at the end of the full Varsity round, if I remember correctly.

V8 up next!

Round 2/9
39% correct on question one.
20% ...yikes.
74% ... redemption!
32%, yet still a plurality.
29%

Some states wave pencils, but others don't, so hard to tell who's ahead.

Missed the slide of the top scores - it went by in about two seconds? Drat.

Watching carefully for the next top scores slide - odd that they didn't show it for V7, but showed it for V8.

V9 - Round 3/9 - correct answer percentages:
23%
64% Pwaa-bulous!
33%
55%
19%

Out of 15 Varsity questions:
14 Illinois
13 Tennessee
12 Ohio
12 California
7 Kansas
7 Pennsylvania

Did Texas and Wisconsin get less than 7??? !?!? O.o yikes. More importantly, are they fielding full teams?!?!?! wacko.gif

Scholastics start strong with 87% correct on their first question! And 74% on the second!

58% on third Scholastic question, but these seem much easier than the Varsity questions.
