DemiDec Talk _ Academic Decathlon _ Xathlon Podcast, Videos, more coming your way!

Posted by: StanleyTree2.0 Jul 31 2018, 02:03 PM

Hey everyone, I wanted to officially announce here that I am working with Xathlon to start producing academic decathlon content on a consistent basis. Starting today, we will be having a consistent schedule of videos, podcasts, and blogs for everyone to watch and engage with for free. We would love to receive feedback, or ideas, or questions from the community. Our hope with this is to create a place for the academic decathlon community to start coming together and collaborating, discussing ideas, and becoming more unified!

We will be uploading our first video today, and the podcast tomorrow will be an audio version of that video. Starting next week we will be having a different podcast where we see the return of Xathlon Talk. Thursday will be a blog post about looking back at 2018 in Texas.

Hope to hear from you guys! We're super excited about this!

Hey everyone, Xathlon is back with the second week of videos about preparing for the school year, this time talking about a rarely used item- the scorebook! Check it out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rGDYRbGZoW8, or find it in the podcast feed. Sorry for the delay, we had some technical difficulties pop up this week, and due to this delay the article will also be delayed until tomorrow. Cheers!

Have a quick blog up today. The beginning of the year has me thinking about the basics, so I have one today about how to keep your kids studying. Let me know if you have any good ideas!

Glad to see that I'm not the only one who has a tendency toward saying Nick's name wrong (swapping the vowels in the last name) smile.gif

Hah! I need to start saying it more. It's in one of the early podcasts...

But no, it's Sih-NO-Dis (emphasis in the middle, and it's a short "i" at the beginning). Where's tindefacto to school us all on linguistics...

Who needs linguistics? tongue.gif I finally understand how to say your name! We should find a way to pin this message so everybody knows xD

Yeah, meanwhile, for like the first year of knowing him, I managed to switch up the consonants -- I was somehow reading it as sih-DOHN-iss! I don't think I even notice my mistake until I realized the significance of "nixonotis" and was like ohhhhhhhh. xD

I mean... not much to "school" here. Your last name is pronounced however you pronounce it. tongue.gif Sometimes I get mad at people who mispronounce their own originally, say, Polish last names, saying the -wicz "wiks" instead of "vich", or the -owski "owski" instead of "ofski", but hey, whatever!
