The 2015 Global Round is now in the books. Some 2675 scholars from 30 countries vied for the rights to be called World Champions at the meet in Kuala Lumpur. Congratulations go out to all the winners, but in particular to Singapore's Nanyang Girls' High School in the Junior Division and China's Tsinghua International School in the Senior Division. The scoremongers among this group would have been in absolute ecstasy, as records fell left and right. (Chauncey Lo shattered individual marks with an 8818 overall.)

More special congratulations go out to the Fifth Place Team in the Senior Division, from the Academy of Higher Learning (Thousand Oaks and La Canada High Schools) in California, and to the Fifteenth Place Team overall in the Senior Division, from Houston's Ridge Point High School. Jeremy Caldwell from Ridge Point nabbed the #7 slot in individual overalls. The British School of Washington also made a very strong showing, giving the US tremendous representation despite a relatively small participant base.

The top 100 teams in each division earned invitations to the 2015 Tournament of Champions, to be held November 13-16 at Yale University.

If any of you would like to participate in the 2015-2016 World Scholar's Cup season, please be in touch. You need only find two teammates, without regard to GPA. If you are looking for AD parallels, the Team Debate takes the place of the Speech and Interview events, the Collaborative Writing the place of the Essay, and the Scholar's Challenge the place of the objective tests. Finally, the entertaining Scholar's Bowl stands in for the Super Quiz. Should you wish to give it a try, regional rounds will be held in Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, and Washington DC, with more perhaps to be added. We would love to see you give the World Scholar's Cup a try!
