Hope everyone is off to a good start this year and hope all the Houston area schools are staying safe.

Just wanted to send out the date for the Rockwall Meet this year. It will be held at Rockwall High School on Saturday October 28. The cost is $20 per student as it was last year and we will be using USAD EASY again so please do not use this before hand if you are planning on attending. You can register here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSf...wG-odA/viewform

I have already heard from a handful of schools so we are expecting another big crowd as in past years. Registration deadline is October 8 so we can begin to finalize everything we need.

If you have questions please email me at lucas.beville@rockwallisd.org

Looks like we got a scrimmage tomorrow. My score prediction:

1. HP: a lot
2. Rockwall Heath: a lot, but not as much as HP
3. Rockwall: a lot, but not as much as Heath
4. A Plano School: probably East
5. CDO: top Arizona school

^^^ lol.

Here're my predictions from before today. I'm much, much less sure about this scrimmage than about the Houston scrimmage, largely because I've simply heard much less gossip about these teams!

1. Highland Park (high 33k)
2. Rockwall-Heath (mid-31k)
3. Rockwall (low 30k)
4. Little Elm (~30k)
5. Canyon del Oro (mid-29k)

The Rockwall competition is kinda weird in that traditionally there's not always a whole lot of correlation between how well teams do here versus how well they do by State, especially in comparison to one another. Even besides some teams not being able to bring all their students, some teams start off slow and grow incredibly throughout the year, and others start off super strong and stay that way the whole year. Same with individuals -- for instance, Piper Gray was 5.3k at Rockwall last year, and went on to hit 9k and take third overall at Nationals. That is insanely awesome improvement. (And she's back again this year!)

I'm super curious to see how everyone does, but of everyone else who's attending, I'm particularly curious to see how Wylie East will do (as a first-year team), and how Lebanon Trail will do (they were 32k last year with only one Varsity -- the only Varsity in the entire school -- as a brand-new freshmen-only school that now has double the population). Oh, and Liberty, of course, who're making a return to Rockwall after being absent last year. smile.gif

Hope the day's been going well for everyone, and best of luck! biggrin.gif

Meet ran well today. Mainly thanks to Yetman for being a pro with the scoring software and preventing any big issues with scoring. Had some former decathletes come help scan the 8 billion scantrons so big thanks to all of them. Scores look promising. Should be a fun year.

Teams who performed well last year we have yet to see:
Lubbock
Lubbock Monterey
Dobie
Clear Lake
Frisco Wakeland

there's always the "jump outta nowhere" dynamic that can easily happen.

Don't forget Summit! Hebron neither; I have the feeling we'll be seeing good things from them...

Look closely at Lebanon Trail. I think they scored almost 22,000 with NO varsity students.

Is Lubbock taking USAD easy at their meet? (I think that's what they did last year?) Anybody know when it is?

They should be doing USAD Easy; I don't know why they wouldn't. Last year it was the last Saturday of October, but the year before it was the first Saturday of November; I guess these things tend to move around. I imagine though that if we haven't heard anything then it's probably next weekend! (Does anyone know for sure?)

Have you done USAD Easy yet?

Yes, our results were pretty unimpressive. We scored around 29k.

I would be ecstatic if our kids had scored 29k. I hope it's still too early to label that as an "unimpressive" score.

Lubbock is #1 in Texas. Congratulations to them! (And to Nick Watson; that's mad impressive!) I hope at some point we can see how the other teams and individuals did!
