Iowa results are out!

Extrapolated to 10 events:

Large:
1 Cedar Rapids Jefferson High School 43009.4
2 Johnston High School 36470.0
3 Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School 34225.6
4 Dowling Catholic High School 31534.4
5 Urbandale High School 30398.9
6 Indianola High School 28621.1
7 Des Moines Roosevelt High School 27010.0
8 Mason City High School 26592.2
9 Iowa City West High School 26328.9
10 Des Moines North High School 25843.3
11 Denison High School 25784.4
12 Des Moines Hoover High School 24935.6

Small:
1 South Central Calhoun High School 40315.6
2 Grundy Center/Dike-New Hartford High Schools 38717.8
3 Union High School 32297.8
4 Spirit Lake High School 29844.4
5 Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School 28490.0
6 Iowa Falls-Alden/AGWSR High Schools 27746.7
7 Aplington-Parkersburg High School 27160.0
8 North Tama High School 25691.1
9 Carlisle High School 24924.4
10 Algona High School 24771.1
11 Janesville High School 24452.2
12 Tipton High School 22103.3

Whoo, SSC finally (technically) hit 40k! It's been awesome watching them grow for the past couple of years. This is the first time in at least a decade and a half, if not longer, that two Iowa schools have "hit" 40k at Regionals!

Also, Grundy's doing really well too -- better than SSC last year. Good stuff.

Congrats on your first prediction!! You're one of us now. tongue.gif

The slow release of CA Regionals results begins this Saturday. What's everyone else thinking about what to expect?

I'll be waiting to make my LACAD/LAUSD predictions until after Massachusetts Regionals on Saturday. (Speaking of which, ayyyy, anyone got some predictions for us??)

Based on our exchange of scores on tests and the mind games we play about how our teams are more terrible than the other person's team, I'd say it is going to be a close contest between University and Edison for Fresno County. popcorn.gif

What's the over/under on teams to beat HP? I'd put the line at 1.5

LAUSD teams routinely earn about 16k subs at region. I figure two of them do it, all of the Big 4 could be close to the HP. It will be fun to see the scores roll in.

I thought over/under would be too vague a search team, oop.

For the record, I still don't think I understand how that applies to this.

I think that he's saying that between 1 and 2 teams will score over HP in CA. It is a bit vague. smile.gif I'd take the over, as I think that 2 teams will score higher than Highland Park, but not by much.

1.5 means that I think it's either a good chance of 1 or 2, and so I'm going to make you flip a coin for the bet. Allan already took the over without saying as much. However with the movement this line could easily end at 2.5. That may be a better place for it.

Ohhhh!! Okay, I think I get it now. biggrin.gif

I'm gonna go with over if the line's at 1.5, haha, in part due to subs. But I think it will be close. My mind may change next week after some more analysis.

So which are the overs? GHC, Marshall? Possibly an Edgewood?

Also I could make the argument that having subs and tests a week apart gives Cali a distinct advantage over Texas in subs, but this is all a thought experiment anyways so it don't matter.

I'd say GHC and Marshall. Franklin if they had a stronger V2. ECR and SP will probably be within 1,000 of HP. I think Edgewood will be low 51k.

No way we sniff HP, just hoping we touch 50k. The other 5 have serious shots though.

The week difference is major. We stopped doing obs after winter break, so basically the entire month of January to strictly focus on subjectives. This entire week has only been objectives, and we won't start back up until after the Awards ceremony on Feb 9th. Our obs might take a big hit at region, but our goal has been to not suck at the state subjectives, so hopefully it works out by then.

Interestingly, apparently Dulles is not alone this year -- one of my teams in Connecticut is also fielding six Scholastics instead of any Honors. (And there's a very reasonable chance they'll break CT's score record.)
