Hey all,

Believe it or not, Round One is now upon us!! LAUSD takes it this weekend, and LA County follows the weekend after. When do you take it? What are your hopes/goals/aspirations? How are things continuing to shape up?

Post your thoughts and musings here. biggrin.gif The ADSIC page can be found here.

Orange County takes it in 2 weeks on the 19th! Last year, Trabuco Hills got 4th with an average team, but we are definitely competing for 1st this year with our most competitive team that we have ever had! I am so excited to see how we shape up compared to everyone else, and also just see if our increasingly intense preparation pays off! And, just a little personal thing, I am excited to unseat the perennial powerhouses in OC (i.e. Westminster, Valencia, Woodbridge)!

In Southern Arizona, we'll take it on December 3. We'll also have a few teams from other states taking it. I will need to check with their coaches before we post scores, etc. smile.gif

Fresno County takes it the 19th. We basically have a new team (one varsity coming back once football ENDS--so we haven't seen him YET) that is not putting in as much time as we do normally so I have no idea how we'll do. We've been told we will not get our scores on the day of the event so I don't know when they will be available. Maybe not until sometime on the 21st or 22nd.

Nebraska scrimmage with art/lit/math is this Saturday. We do music/econ/science on December 17...that's later than it's ever been.

We will be there and you can definitely post our scores. Hopefully that will be an insane scrimmage. We will see.

Saw something about a 4 state virtual meet on DDSIC? Anyone know more about it? That seems super exciting to me.

The teams from Colorado, Tennessee, Connecticut and Maryland are all banding together to compete head-to-head online for Round 1! All of us have a small number of teams participating, so we figured it'd be more fun for everyone involved to do something like this. Other small states have been invited, so maybe we'll get even more teams on board!

Because of the large number of students that took the SAT Saturday, LAUSD has some teams/student's taking the Round 1 exams today so scores may come out later than usual tongue.gif

Kern County in central California is splitting into three school sites for Round One. Two of the sites are taking the tests on Thursday, November 17th, and the third site is taking them on the 18th. Stockdale is one of the ones taking it on the 18th, and I'll post scores as soon as I get them. (I'll have scores from my site, but not necessarily from the other two. But ours should give a rough idea of where the strongest teams in Kern County stand.)

Hoping to be really competitive this year. Fingers crossed!

I just noticed the listing of a 60-team Round 1 meet labeled as "Wisconsin Round 1" but with location listed as "various". What exactly does this mean, and will we see future large events in Wisconsin, or is this just because it happens to be the location for nationals this year?

Wisconsin is actually the only state I know of that uses Round 1 as an elimination round -- only the top 50 teams from Round 1 go on to compete Regionals. The teams (looks like 60 schools are registered to compete this year) compete at 10 different locations across the state. This happens every year. smile.gif

That being said, best of luck to WI teams tomorrow! biggrin.gif Crossing my fingers for Altoona! (I can't imagine how nervewracking a day tomorrow must be for the WI coaches -- a competition AND an election to win...)

I'm going to take the under for us on this one. We took the Demidec Easy test today. Our top score was 514.3. I don't think our math scores are going to get the job done. But then again I'm pretty sure none of our other scores will either. Math, never a strength, will be even worse as we don't have someone on the team who can teach the others like we've had the last seven years. [Sees a long dark tunnel ahead]
