With the huge amount of preseason rankings and polls for college football and the NFL coming out, It gave me an idea to do this for AD- why not ask the coaches and commentators of DDT to create their own rankings and then combine them for the DDT top 25. If you guys buy into this, I think this could be fun and we could do it after every major practice meet and real meet. You can either post on here or just send it to me in a message if you wish your numbers to be private. Also, you don't have to rank all 25, you can rank however many you wish and I will convert that into a full 25.

For reference, here is last year's top 25: http://demidecscores.gilslotd.com/wiki/State/2011 Yes this is just state and doesn't reflect the score at nationals, but it's the best indicator there is.

I'll have my own top 25 out soon enough. I hope we can embrace this, I think it could be a lot of fun to discuss.

Predict the top 25 teams after Round 1? Round 2? Round 3?

Or, here's another idea. Anybody who wants in fills out one of these: http://demidecscores.gilslotd.com/wiki/Scrimmages/2012 and posts it here smile.gif

It would generally mean the state round, since everyone competes then (or all the teams that are good), but I mean it more as a "most talented" kinda concept.

And Xu will be the three time TX state champion, with the highest score in the nation after Rd. 3 for the third year in a row.

Thanks for the "kiss of death", John, but I appreciate your affirmation that we will bounce back from a subpar season. I do think that we should be competitive, but putting Rockwall, Pearland, Friendswood, and Taylor ahead of us is a no-brainer. Based on last year, we should be picked to finish second to Coppell in our own region. We have two returners and some talented newcomers. Needles to say, I am anxious to get started.

I agree on Xu, and Stevenson and Zhang should fill out the top 3 honors (or Catherine Tregre too?). I'm pulling for Pearland for LS, but it's really hard to tell.

The three teams with my support this year are Pearland, Pasadena, and Dobie. Pearland because of the great group of kids I had the pleasure to meet at State this year and I still talk to, Pasadena because it's an up and coming school from our district, and Dobie because hey, I went there. But good luck to everybody this year, and hopefully the Texas state champ will be able to take down California at Nationals in Albuquerque(Cannot believe I spelled that right on the first try). It's going to be an interesting year. popcorn.gif

So are we having a coaches poll and an AP poll (aka graduates) also make sure no current decathlete gets a vote because we all know we'll be biased to our own school.

Anyone can vote- they can be biased, everyone has their own built-in biases, also assuming a kid will put their team first is a stretch.

And I think it's in Maryland next year or the year after.

I only did top 20 just because I don't know many more teams past what's on the list so the last five would just be random. I have reasons for my placements of the Texas teams, but since I don't know much about the team structure of the Arizona or California teams, I just basically left them in the same place as Hartman.

I think you may be right. Looking at the names from 2009-2010 shows that this year's team was all fresh, except for one of the scholastics. Which proves they can rebuild fast.

They also have that stellar sophomore honors, which makes for better returning prospects than what they started with last year.
