Hey guys. I'm thinking about trying a new scores project this year, but don't know that I have the time to do extensive research. So, I figured I'd post this up here and see if anyone (or any-multiple-people) were up to the challenge to help me out on this one. Does anyone want to go through ADSIC and try to fill in competition dates whenever possible? For instance, here is the page from the Arizona state competition, back in 2007. It occurred on March 9-10th. That isn't on the page anywhere yet, tho, and when I'm extracting scores, I'd really appreciate a way to figure out when that was. The important thing, for me, is to try and track down dates of important state competitions in the last 10 years or so.

If we can get data for the last two years tracked down, I'll chillax with that. As much as possible is my goal, though, and if you find any good sources of information but don't feel like putting them in ADSIC yourself, post them up here and I or another person will hopefully be up to the task. Later this week I'll post a good compilation of information mining techniques for Acadec information. I don't have anything too exotic, but when I do research I have a few tricks I can often use to some sort of success and hopefully they'll help us out here too.

The important thing really is to have about 20-30 dates of state competitions in years with compiled nationals scores. If I find the time, I'm going to be doing some rather extensive research on scores from the current season and last season using some massive spreadsheets I got sent. If we can get enough of the state to nationals data that I can establish the trend I'm catching a glimpse of in idle study, it could make model-fitting a lot better this time around.

Also, if you know what the title is referring to, you probably watch too much ESPN. (I am guilty.)

I just added a competition dates table similar to what we are currently using on the 2010 regionals page to all of these pages. If anyone wants to pitch in, they can edit these pages.
I'm currently going through older versions of the calendar on the ADSIC main page and I should have most of the state competition dates for 2008 and 2009 up soon.
Looking forward to seeing your upgraded model!

I've got Texas Region X scores for about the last 7 years and state scores for the last 6. At school...

Why is the date important?

Presumably because the date of a state competition affects the amount of time between state and nationals, and thereby the amount a team's score is likely to improve. This would be highly relevant to Dr. Roffles' statistical modeling of national scores.

Regardless of when state was, I never touched my materials afterwards until spring break, so the time between probably only affects the better teams and individuals.

I think that's what he's looking for, no offense. He's looking at a full scale analysis, and a lot of the focus will probably be on the major programs.

How about mailing photocopies of score sheets? That possible?

I will be trying to get state archived scores at PA States to get PA up to date. We have a "top 3" thing going on, and I really would like to make sure I'm not missing any awesome decathletes from years past.
