I am so proud of all of our Decathletes today, and especially the Acton-Boxborough, Ashland and Wellesley kids who all really stepped it up and worked incredibly hard this past month from Regionals. We once again had two teams over 40k -- and almost a third! I'm also quite happy that, for the first time since 2000, we will have another school besides just Acton-Boxborough attending Nationals. Congratulations Ashland!

Also, a HUGE thanks to the band of former Decathletes who helped run the competition today! It couldn't have happened without them!

Any individual scores?

I briefly checked out the livestream on Facebook and saw Roediger was 9,1xx, Ayers 8,991.4, and Hendrix 8,3xx.

Also, I saw Monmouth Academy won Maine!

This brings up a good point. SCC would love to go to nationals. They have went on the past as our 2nd team from Iowa. Their concern is that if they go they will be competing against schools 5X's their size, and 10,000 points higher than them. I don't dislike the division IV idea, it just is not a strong sell to smaller schools.

Hmmm. I see their concern, but no one should expect to win everything all the time and just be discouraged when finally having to compete against bigger dogs. It's Nationals; it comes with the territory. Even if they were in Division III, they'd have to compete against the 52k Oakwood.

Isn't this exactly what the score-based CA divisions basically admit? That teams don't want to compete with the big dogs? This is strictly a devil's advocate perspective... not actually what I necessarily feel.

I'm learning on my end that the score tiers are a direct reflection of administrative and cultural support for the program within a building. It would be pretty cool if the divisions could be based on whether or not the coach is a full time coach, the program has a course related to AD, etc, rather than school size.

Hearing about that mentality makes me quite excited for Nationals, and future years... =] Best of luck this week, Phil! I am proud of you!
