They didn't use clickers.

How would you like to run all of those scantrons through the scanners? Should be a piece of cake after a few Rockwall meets with 800+ kids.

So. Much. Whiteout.

It's either that or buy clickers for over 100 teams...tough dilemma.

Can they produce our nationals then?!

Apparently USAD China happened a month ago -- not sure who won, but check out this video.

Holy frap.

That's a lot of teams. Some sort of engineering event as well? Maybe instead of essay? That seems like a neat idea.

Comparing this presentation to what we have had at our nationals events is insulting.

Looking at their web site through the use of Google Translate, it looks like they had the same ten events including essays, speech and interview. They just had a three-day meet with a lot more social events incorporated so it looks like they had a talent show, fashion show, opening and closing ceremonies with some pomp and circumstance (and mascots),maybe that engineering contest and perhaps even an outdoor race? (I couldn't get my browser to translate that page). It was probably a lot more like World Scholar's Cup in that regard as the WSC has a lot of that at the global level too. Looks like the students had fun - it would be neat if USAD here in the United States made it more of an experience for the competing students as well.

No doubt. And gotta have at least 4 scanners or you're in deep trouble.

Thing is, you can only do one per computer, right?

I hadn't even noticed it was even later than usual. I wonder why?

Yeah, so we just had volunteers offer up their computers for our use. I think last time we used Yetman's, Alvarado's, and my own

The main problem is that no one else around here really has Scantron machines to use. :/ I think we'll definitely try to seek one out though; this would help things soooo much.

Also, anyone know who won Idaho?

We took the USAD Hard tests yesterday. They lived up to their name for us. Anyone else take them recently?

I love me some zipgrade. It can read ID numbers to put scores into Excel, and you can get data about who missed what questions also. Probably too slow for a big competition, but it's great in my class.

2 hours and 18 minutes until departure. Most of the kids have worked hard, but I can't tell if we are any better. Will we hold our subjective scores? Will S2 come through even though she has largely been a no show since county? So many questions. The only certainty I know is that our scores on USAD medium and hard were lower than they were on the practice test we took in January. Fingers crossed that all of them get all of their speech out. One counter persists in the blanking out stage. Hmm. Hoping for a miracle at the Veteran's Memorial on Sunday.

Our usad medium scores were much lower than ptb and ptb was lower than our regional. You should be fine smile.gif

My numbers don't add up, but I'm tired and they're within 20 points so

Speech -300 (S2 who was S1 at county was -333.3 by herself)

Interview facepalm.gif -1191.7 (S2 was -421.7)

Essay +297 (not bad!)

Math -514.5 (ouch)

Economics -320

Art +180

Lit +260

Science +340

Social Science +320

Music wub.gif wub.gif wub.gif +960

For a grand total of +50.8

Going up 50.8 points improved our position from 23rd place to 16th. If only we didn't tank the interview....

Speaking of tanking interviews--had Mark Aguila gotten a 925+ in interview, he would've set a new score record. Crazy stuff
