We were in D2 that year. They announced us as first place in D2. Three days later, USAD sent out a mass email entitled 'Scoring Issues' in which they stripped us of our title, and awarded it to Oakdale of Ohio. They didn't even bother to contact us first. It was horribly handled and I stay bitter about it to this day. We still have the banner, though. smile.gif

Agh, still makes me cringe to think about. :/ Regardless of the scoring issue in the first place, I can't fathom why they wouldn't have at least contacted you first. Sigh.

Also, I think you mean Willoughby South? Oakdale is a school in California; Oakwood is the Ohioan school, but they were in DIII.

That happened in Texas state one year, when they announced Nimitz won Large School, the crowd went wild and then the announcer said, "And representing Texas at the USAD national competition is Friendswood from the Small/Middle school competition!"

Nimitz' coach described it as a gut punch. They went from elation to disaster in a blink.

Oof. :/ I guess they could have announced before the ceremony started that no one there was going to Nationals? I mean, at least they hadn't announced Nimitz was going to Nationals before rescinding the invitation -- that'd be entirely different, and more like what happened with CDO.
