Also, Network is a movie every single person must see. It's the cinematographic epitome of wit and sarcasm.

Also, Citizen Kane is the most overhyped movie of all time.

Well. He's got a point. That doesn't make it less good, but it's like saying that The Beatles are the most overrated band of all time. I mean, half the people who "loooooooooooooooooooooooove" the Beatles fulfill at least one of three qualities.
A: They were not around for the quartet to ever be a quartet.
B: They like, at most, four songs.
C: They only listen to the Beatles because it's the hip thing to do.

This doesn't make the Beatles suck, it makes their fans suck.

Yeah, no one except film critics and the occasional cool person actually cites Citizen Kane as his favorite. It's not like "everyone" is claiming that they love it. If anything, the "hip" thing to do is to call it "overhyped". If someone loves Citizen Kane, it is very rare for that person to not be able to fully justify that position. Personally it isn't one of my favorites but that doesn't mean it's not the greatest film ever made. I honestly have never seen a coherent argument against its greatness except for the claim that it's "boring" or the classic "overhyped" claim, without support.

Okay, yeah, that was my reaction to the echoes part. I was more posting it for the first paragraph. The one that makes sense and is pretty clear to anyone who watches the movie.

I consider myself to have pretty good taste in movies (I mean, who doesn't? EDIT: I mean who doesn't consider him/herself to have good taste, not who doesn't consider me to have good movie taste.) but I still don't understand why it's 'the greatest movie ever'. I really don't. The plot was terrible, IMO, the ending was anticlimactic, the acting wasn't especially good. People say it was revolutionary - I admit I haven't watched enough late 1930s and pre-Kane 1940s movies to compare (However, of those I have seen, Gone With the Wind was excellent, The Grapes of Wrath was good, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde was pretty solid) but I do know that tons of movies from the 1950s and 1960s were infinitely better than Citizen Kane. I really would like someone to explain to me what was so good about it. Honestly, I'd like to love it as much as everyone else does, I just can't.

Another note:
Favorite actor/actress? Living/Not-so-living? Greatest actor? why? Epic movies they were in? Please don't use looks as a basis.

I'll start off: Dustin Hoffman, Jack Nicholson, Tom Hanks, Marlon Brando (even though I still haven't seen godfather). For the females: Vivien Leigh, Jodie Foster, Meryl Streep.

True story. Although it seems he only takes roles if he's 92+% sure he'll get at least an Oscar Nomination.

If I was Daniel Day-Lewis, I would do the same thing. Have you ever read about how he prepares for a role? It's pretty intense.

Once again, true story. And it pays off. He's extraordinarily good. Just not as good as the people on my list tongue.gif.

I hear it's quite a popular new phenomenon.
