Tchaikovsky "Ode to Joy" From 1865, gem of a piece. I know there's not enough curriculum in a day to put all pieces in, and I don't know which one would be bumped to allow this one in, but I don't care. It's full of warmth, humanity, and stands on its own merits, even in the shadow of Beethoven's treatment of Schiller's work. Best part is ZERO John Cage. ![]() What are some recommendations you'd like to make for someone interested in widening one's appreciation of the genre? |
