Here's a heads-up about how we want to roll with some things...

1. Don't rickroll. It's not cool now, and, worse, it's not funny anymore. If you don't know what a rickroll is, you're lucky. If you do, cut it out. We've gotten beyond that.

2. Gravedigging... if you post to a thread that hasn't seen action in three days, you better have a very good reason for doing so. Some good reasons include having been sick or unable to access the Internet for a long time, but having something more to say in a thread than "QFT" or "lol"; finding a new wrinkle in an old discussion that adds value and reopens an area of discussion in a positive, constructive way; posting in a topic that is emotionally significant for you to share your thoughts with others that may be of like mind.

Don't post in a thread just to increase post count or to be a jerk. That includes posting in old threads just to have your name on every thread in a forum or to be "most active poster" for a day. That's so not cool. If you really want your account to stand out, make an effort to post ideas that are significant and worth reading. It's not all that hard to do.

3. NSFW... that's Not Safe For Work... if posting some image, text, or link to an image or text would get you fired from a normal company, don't post it here. There are lots of people that read these forums at their workplace (like coaches) who can get fired for viewing such material or clicking on links to such material. Warning folks that it's NSFW means you really shouldn't post it in the first place. Please do your part to keep the forum *safe* for work.

4. If a member is banned, leave him or her alone. Guys that have been active from the old version of the forums know of one such person. Don't mention him, please. Let's move on and hope we can just forget about him. If anyone else does something truly worthy of an eternal ban with prejudice, let's just not mention him or her again, either. If they're banned, they're not here to defend themselves, so it's really not fair to talk about them in public. Admins will discuss them in private on an as-needed basis.

5. If your account is suspended, it was for a darn good reason. Or at least it seemed that way at the time. The admins and mods will deliberate it, rest assured. If we unsuspend your account ahead of time, great. If not, then you'll have to deal with it and then not do things to get suspended again.

The admins and mods will work on a set of criteria for reviewing account suspension. We really don't want to be arbitrary in a matter of this seriousness.

6. Warnings can be appealed to an admin or nazgul, who can remove the warning. In your appeal, engage in a discussion of what you did and why it's not going to be a problem again. Be respectful, be thoughtful, be serious. "lol unwarn me plz kthxbi" is NOT a good way to get unwarned...

About the warning system: it won't be used for comedic purposes unless such comedy is ABSOLUTELY necessary. (Ask Research Monkey about Nationals 2008... and such a comedic warn will no longer be permanent...) Seriously, at 10 warnings, we look at suspension and/or banning as a possible resolution.

7. Private messages... if you're getting private messages and you don't like what's in them because the language is threatening, disturbing, or otherwise discomforting, forward the message to an admin or nazgul and we'll take appropriate action.

8. Pokemon discussion... no. Not if it involves things that are not Pokemon. Just no. Don't even get me started on why not. Just... no... okay?

We'll add to this thread as is needed in order to make sure everyone here has a safe, happy visit to DDTalk and nobody gets fired or expelled from school...

The "m" is silent and "Zzzptm" is only one syllable...
