They'll also have content flavor packs that you can install on your decathletes to give them distinctive period costumes.

It's obvious the theme is the color green.

No. This is the year of Delaware and Podiatry. I feel it and I'm going to look up the odds for it on offshore betting sites.

Hmmm...

No wagering on USAD topics, but I did drop a fiver on Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle of The Philippines becoming the next pope after Francis I.

Also noticed same shop was giving same odds for Bono and Father Dougal Maguire, 500-1... I lol'd...

Yep. That's what happens when an old friend steps into the Region X coordinator job. I might be doing SQ for some time, since she knows I can pronounce most words, domestic and foreign.

I stand corrected. I must have read into the conversation that they were before December, but were now later in November.

That being the case, then they're still on track with their mid-November round.

Texas state is still the end of January, right?

Any clip from the IT Crowd is a winner.

Which is why I try to quote them as often as possible, especially when I'm at a client site.

This is making my head spin. At least t-shirt sizes are consistent across the USAD space.

Oh, wait, I forgot about China when I typed that. I'm an XXL in the USA, but I'm in "European" sizes in China, which is their euphemism for "Big and Tall".

So, what *does* USAD mean when it says "Large"????

This happens from time to time, when a team is in awe of a star player but never really figures out that READING THE PACKETS would put them in the same category.

I do not miss constantly telling my team to READ. ALL. THE. THINGS.

Okay, I've got it confirmed. Wow. 38,900. That's an average of almost 6.5k across the board.

There are schools that struggle to get that score in *10* events, let alone just 7.

Mad props, yo.

My cut team guys could be speech/interview judges as well as graders, but they pretty much went into study hall mode until the next year's curriculum was announced.

Since our class was at the end of the day and not for credit, seniors that didn't make the team would drop the class in Spring and just go home early.

So this would have allowed Nimitz *and* Friendswood to go to the 2003 Nationals... Large and Medium state winners, for example. This would not allow Granada Hills and ECR to both attend, as they're in the same division.

Man, still no options for former students/coaches to compete in Emeritus rounds...

Hey, if you wanna sign up, I'll let you take the tests and you can see how you compare with the Decathletes wink.gif

Maybe if you made a supar-sekrit individual purchase page and the price was right (like about a tenth of a team price, give or take), I'd consider a nibble.

Of course, I say that now as I still have to face down about 30+ hours of internal training videos. Maybe you should hit me up again once I've actually finished my training and am billing hours to clients and see how much free time I have then. emot-smug.gif

I do historiography, though... also network security... the fact that the two intersect in the form of Russian botnets is, itself, a frustrating commentary on our times.

Rockport-Fulton ISD has suspended classes indefinitely. Instructions are for students to enroll where they've relocated for the disaster. Basically, if you don't get funds to rebuild, you're faced with settling somewhere other than Rockport, TX.

For the flooded areas, I imagine getting the schools cleaned out to where they're safe enough is going to be a huge chore. That water in Houston got a one-two punch of toxicity from sewage and chemical spills. Nightmare.

To put things in perspective...

Last week, 50" of rain was unimaginable.

Today, 50" of rain is no longer unimaginable, we have some images of what to expect with that.

I would expect there to be a significant population of internal refugees that eventually settles in San Antonio - Austin - Waco - Dallas from the Coastal Bend and Houston. Not only are people forced to leave their homes, their homes are likely as not going to be places they cannot return to, so they wind up permanently settling in their cities of refuge. That's what happened with many former residents of New Orleans after Katrina. There simply wasn't anywhere for them to go once their home was destroyed due to flooding.

Over in Rockport, I know lots of people are saying brave and hopeful things about rebuilding, but not everyone will have the time or the will to rebuild. For those who want to rebuild, they may not have electricity there for 2-4 weeks, which would mean similar lack of other basic services, no gasoline pumps, no grocery stores, things like that. There may be people who rode out the storm, but how long will they last with a boil order for water, no sewage, and no electricity?
