Texas Decathletes - it is time!

Region VII will be at Morton Ranch High School.
Teams to watch (top 5): James E. Taylor (defending Regional Champs), Seven Lakes (Regional Runner-Up), Cinco Ranch, Clements, and FB Austin.

1st - 3rd Place Predictions:

Cinco Ranch: returning H1 (scholastic last year) and S1. Other than that, we don't know much about them. They had a strong showing at SA Holmes, but traditionally have done well at that meet, but it did not translate to a top tier performance on USAD tests. Last year finished 3rd in Region. This year: 3rd place finish.

Taylor: returning H1, the state's high scorer from last year, H3, S1 (varsity last year), and S2. Last year had a pretty solid varsity group, all above 7K and they went 1, 2, 3 overall varsities. Will have another good team, not as good as last years team though. Last year finished 1st in Region. This year: 2nd place finish.

Seven Lakes: returning Sirus Jesudasen (top score in the Nation from Rd. 1) and Mark Caldwell (V3). Last year the team was very top heavy, Toni Alimi and above were steller, but under that it was pretty weak, especially the varsities. This years team is much more balanced. Will have the best honors and scholastics, by far, but the real question is will the varsities step up and contribute? Last year finished 2nd in Region. This year: 1st place finish.

About to go to coaches' meeting to get bored listening to administrative stuff and then GET SCORES, BABY!!! Then sandbag about how our kids did, unless they look really off, then we file an appeal before sandbagging.

One plus at Region X: we didn't have the student general meeting at the start. YAY! LESS BORING STUFF!

Me to Gear: "So how did your kids do? Mine are about where I expected."
Gear to Me: "Mine are UNDERPERFORMING!"

Sounds about right to me. biggrin.gif

Yeah, Rockwall only got 20,000 on the subjectives, so Gear is disappointed. tongue.gif

Region X is heating up like a '64 Chrysler with a bad radiator! There are some razor-thin margins on the leaderboard! Folks, you want to hit the DVR and call in the kids and Aunt Millie to watch the awards assembly, it's gonna be one for the generations!

Region V going smoothly. We are doing about as I expected, with a few pleasant and unpleasant surprises (as I expected). Math scores are insanely low. Good luck to everyone. Nice to see you again Hartman

Here at DDT, we do not declare winners, we only project them.

But...

In SQ relay...

PHS and Rockwall look set for Medium School winners and BERKNER HIGH SCHOOL may just have taken first!

There are appeals, so these numbers are preliminary... biggrin.gif

Are we going to be receiving any webcasts from any regionals? It'll be nice to see scores come in.

Awards start in an hour.

Math . . . don't even get me started, that's just dumb. We have strong math kids and that test was just stupid.

Subjectives, give me a break. I bet we have the lowest essay scores in the state.

Will post later in the evening.

42/45 on Relay.

This year: varsities 13/15, last year: 5/15 - HUGE difference.

Award ceremony at region IX (Nimitz) is possibly cancelled. Due to an appeal? WTF.

In other news: Centennial got 35 relAy, unofficially, and Liberty and Frisco high got 28. Idk any actual winning scores.

Tentative Results:

45,500 Dobie
43,000 Pearland
42,400 Friendswood

Rockwall wins their region outright with a score of 43,186.

Still don't know about Seven Lakes.

Region IV awards ceremony canceled. Major scoring malfunction. There will be no scores from this region for large, medium and small schools. Scores will be e-mailed...medals and ceremonies will take place at individual campuses. Large school superquiz was unofficially Stevens H.S. winning.
