Who do you guys predict will be the best in texas, on an individual basis? In each category.

Personally, I don't keep track of people outside my team, so I have no predictions that will be any good, but I'm interested to hear what you guys have to say about it.

Just a quick top-of-my-head rundown:

Honors: Ellen Liu (James E Taylor), Brandon Jones (J. Frank Dobie), Yuchen Lin (Pearland), just about anybody really.

Scholastics: David Orozco (Nimitz), Eddie Nunez (Dobie), Paulina Cueto (Pearland), Gabriel Cunha (Cinco Ranch)

Varsities: No one ever knows, do they?

I hope you're kidding: that's a terrible attitude. I was in a similar position (borderline honors), but I was just barely a scholastic. Still, I scored high enough to even medal at Honors this year (4th or 5th Overall).

You're smart enough to do the exact same, so don't sell yourself short just because Honors is intimidating.

Don't prepare to win in scholastic. Prepare to win overall. That's an awfully high goal to achieve (I wasn't even close - Ellen beat me by 500), but that way you do your best, and maybe even pick up a few awards.

This. I was competing for first as a varsity, and come up a measly 400 points of Sophy. And I almost beat Ross. GRRR SMURF.

My bad Eddie, what's the honors name? I think I mixed Brandon and him haha.

JEREMY MORRIS. WOW I was way offf.

Honors: obviously up for grabs, but good names to throw out include Morris (Dobie), Ellen Liu (Taylor), Yuchen (Pearland), Sirus (Seven Lakes), Cunha.

Scholastics: Eddie Nunez is probably the odds on favorite to win scholastic, I'd say - didn't know Orozco was moving up - he'll be excellent as well. Watch out for breakout stars from Rockwall (unless, are they returning their top schol? He was very good IIRC). Taylor haven't had the best schols late IIRC, but their program is excellent enough to churn out some good ones, too. Michael Lee (schol or varsity?) (PLand)

Varsity: Dobie. Orozco (if he didn't move up). Huneycutt (schol or varsity?) (PLand)

Wrong varsity from Pearland. Michael Lee was a 7700 scholastic last year, moved down. He should compete. Although I love Huneycutt, I hope he does well.

I'm too new at this to know for sure, but there is some crazy competition going on between my Honors kids already. There are 10 of them, all bright, and only 3 seniors. If not this year, whoever survives the carnage and sticks with it next year should be real competitors. I think. Maybe. I don't know.

That's usually how it works. I have this insane competition going on amoung 5 or 6 honors kids. I'm glad I'm not competing...

At Torrance we always end up having basically six smart people, two of whom are honors. We really have to be self-motivated since that heavy competition aspect just isn't there.

Michael Lee is no longer a member of Pearland AcaDec.
Also, expect some high scores from Paulina, Yuchen, and Abby Jerkola (new PACADEC honors)

Abby's last name reminds me of a girl I once debated... Toabola Jokadola...

They have already selected their team?

nope

EDIT: I realize my wording might have been a little confusing, so for clarity: Paulina is still a scholastic, Abby is trying for a new honors spot, and Yuchen should wreck shop this year as an honors if he can dedicate a little more time towards acadec, dude's spread really thin.
