I'm not following the competition as closely as I did in past years - I know basically nothing, but I still want to make predictions, just for the fun of it!

Without Super Quiz:

LACAD scores coming out Thursday night:
1. Edgewood - 50,519
2. South Pasadena - 50,392
3. West Torrance - 46,991
4. Mark Keppel - 43,710
5. Beverly Hills - 43,548

Benjamin Lin will score around 9,275. Molly Kim will score around 9,225. Nobody else will break 9,000.

LAUSD scores coming out Friday night:
1. Granada Hills Charter - 54,806
2. Marshall - 53,621
3. Franklin - 53,495
4. El Camino Real Charter - 53,348
5. Garfield - 46,632

Nobody will break 9,350, but stronger-than-usual scholastics (probably three over 9k, including Pongstien and Zepeda) and varsities (one over 9k) will bring the big four up to these levels.

Robb, I think you're insane... West, Keppel, BH and Garfield are all way too low. tongue.gif

I've been meaning to say, I meant to start the CA Regionals thread a long time ago, but I missed the boat. I've been so busy. sad.gif But better late than never!!

On second thought, Keppel and Beverly Hills are both way too low, yes!

Btw, Pongstein is not competing. Also, even though these scores are generally high estimates, I don't think you'll be far off from the actual results! I wouldn't be surprised if many records are broken!

Thanks for the information. Well, when Granada didn't return Jake Chong in 2014, it didn't hurt their honors bracket much. I can't believe we're talking about 54.8k with a straight face. Granada honors average 9300, scholastics average 9100, and varsities average 9000. There we go.

The article about St. Helena's score said they were 2nd to Casa Grande so we know they're higher than 46,661.

We don't study this week. Never have, never will. We watch movies, play games, catch up on school work, enjoy life, and try to put things in perspective. When things are made official, then we get back to work!

I'm not sure if it's the best strategy, but it seems like the right strategy. Franklin pride!

It sounds like an effective vacation. I remember doing something similar after regionals my senior year, and being just as unsure, but then feeling like it helped me do better at state. Do you know if other LAUSD teams do the same thing?

Records are meaningless this year. It will fall again tomorrow, as will top team. Man, I wish for a 2001 "47k to win" situation.

I'd like to know about Burbank and Alhambra. In addition to all of the nose-bleed scores. Allan? How many LA county schools beat 46,158 with super quiz?

8 did. Alhambra was the lowest school that was over that threshold. Burbank was 49,207.x and Alhambra was 46,3xx.7
