Got internet in the Hilton, so me, Dean, and Akhil will be able to webcast. Great setup, little orchestra in one corner. Glamorous ballroom, about 6 massive chandeliers.

Two students received the award.

One who couldn't make it to nationals and a decathlete from Oakwood HS in Ohio. They also receive $1500 each.

Guy who was here, from Oakwood in Ohio, has Brittle Bone Disease and is in a wheelchair. Joined the team sophomore year but didn't compete until his senior year due to surgeries. Whole team came up and kid gave a nice speech about his teammates.

Why do they have a brunch right in the middle of the ceremonies? (At least, that's what it says on the schedule that Juggernaut posted)... Wouldn't it be more convenient to do everything right after the brunch?

Yes we have brunch right now. A little odd but only the k caperton awards were given out before this so not too bad.

Shout out to Mr. Yetman (dr. Evil Calculus) for getting me a ticket to the awards.

I also need to thank Higgonbotham for getting me in, although I fleed the Texas table to webcast in the back.

Going to attempt to list names for Dobie and GHC so we can try to get a more accurate representation of the final outcome from the awards themselves.

Granada Hills Team Lineup:

Dobie Team Lineup:

The Granada Hills team was actually hanging out and socializing with other teams, unlike some CA teams in the past. On Thursday they were hanging out with a couple teams and practicing speeches and interview. They seemed to be making the most of their first time at nationals.

Are the events presented in the order seen in the schedule? And do you read left to right or top-down? rolleyes.gif
