The official Social Science Resource Guide barely mentions the Siege of Leningrad (page 20, in passing, and on page 27) and quickly moves on to other things. The Siege of Leningrad lasted from September, 1941 to January of 1944 -- a period of almost 900 days! This is why the people inside were starving--2 1/2 years of serious siege! The Siege of Leningrad proved one of the longest, most destructive, and most lethal sieges of a major city in modern history. More than 1 million civilians died as a result. Symphony musicians heroically performed Shostakovich's 7th Symphony while starving to death under Siege.

What the heck USAD Social Science writer!
