I'm really eager to see how Rockwall, Pearland, LAUSD, and the rest of the country stack up this year. LAUSD Round 1 is usually in mid-November.

Does anyone know when it will be this year, or dates for any other scrimmages?

I think Massachusetts Regionals (they use Round 1 tests) is also coming up this month.

An important scholastic will not be making the trip for Rockwall :-(

As always, Richardson ISD does everything freakishly early - Round 1 November 13 (yes, a Wednesday) for Richardson, Berkner, Pearce, and Lake Highlands. I'm glad LAUSD R1 is occurring around the same time.

If Massachusetts calls a fall R1 competition Regionals, what do they call R2 and R3?

Go Lake Highlands! 1990 USAD Nationals champions, back and competing for the first time in... how long?

I think Massachusetts just has Regionals in November and State in March. I don't think they even use the R2 tests.

I can't believe that's coming up so soon. 785 is an immense number.

Fresno County is this Saturday the 9th. Can't wait to see how many thousands of points we're behind University this year. That's what happens, though, when you don't start meeting until the last week of September.

Ah, Lake Highlands has been competing for at least several years; I don't know if they ever stopped. They haven't seen State in a while, but they're picking up momentum this year with a reportedly great new coaching team.
RISD has weird demographics. Lake Highlands and Pearce both somehow include our city's richest and poorest neighborhoods, and that stark socioeconomic dichotomy tends to make it difficult to sustain a club with A students and C students together. Pearce, needless to say, does so successfully. As Lake Highlands continues to improve, I believe the administration will be able to prioritize Decathlon more, contributing to the cycle of success.

If it's ok for me to ask, what were the individual scores like?

That's a 2,300-point margin, which seems fairly small in terms of Fresno County history.

2012-2013:
Scrimmage: Uni 25,874.2, Edison 21,803
Regionals: Uni 46,579.6, Edison: 44,917.2
(4,000-point margin went down to 1,700)

2011-2012:
Scrimmage: Uni 26,105.7, Edison 23,750.2
Regionals: Uni 46,304.9, Edison 44,928.3
(2,400-point margin went down to 1,400)

2010-2011:
Scrimmage: Uni 27,600.1, Edison 25,786
Regionals: Uni 44,418, Edison 46,424
(1,800-point margin went down to -2,000)

2009-2010:
Scrimmage: Uni 29,873, Edison 25,034
Regionals: Uni 47,744.4, Edison 47,151.8
(4,800-point margin went down to 600)

It looks like Uni usually needs more than a 2,300-point margin to be able to safely defend their championship. I'm excited to see what happens this year.

Teams:
1. Richardson yahoo.gif
2. Pearce
3. Berkner

Honors:
1. Marin (Richardson)
2. Ben (Pearce)
3. Emily (Richardson)
4. Peter (Richardson)
5. ?

Scholastics:
1. Patrick (Richardson)
2. Rachael (Berkner)
3. Caitlin (Berkner)
4. ?
5. ?

Varsities:
1. Lauren (Richardson)
2. Abby (Pearce)
3. William (Pearce)
4. Abbie (Richardson)
5. Chris (Richardson)

A note on Richardson people: Emily is a junior and scored 7k last year. Patrick is also a junior and was unable to compete but already a great scorer last year. Lauren is a junior and brand new Decathlete.
Edit: Got breakdowns! I was 5485.7 objectively, 8082.3 total. Richardson scored 37,851.6 in ten events (and while I hate to make excuses, it's worth noting that we had two sick counters and one screwed over by evil judges). I'm so proud of my team!

Wisconsin was on Tuesday. Waukesha West was first (~20,000), closely followed by Wilmot Union. New Berlin Eisenhower was 5000 points lower, and I would guess around 10th place. Wisconsin does locals with 6 tests.
