That was back in 2011, when I had an Android. I haven't tried it on my iPhone, but it has something to do with the RSS/Atom feed that you can access from the "Tools" box at the bottom of the menu bar that appears on the left side of any DDSIC page.

I did that a few days ago. I also emailed the owner of the site because I didn't know it was going to be down.

You should delete your Facebook in preparation for the culmination of the Academic Decathlon season and your studying like Marin did in early January... You know you want to do it! Your binders are calling your name... =)

Beat you to it. H1 and H3 were approximately level; H2 was 10 points higher on average. I have the others in the spreadsheet, just forgot where I put it.

Nice. Did you compensate for the fact that there were two sets of rooms?

/humblebrag

I must confess, I did that so I could get Richardson's increase rank (seventh!) for our school newspaper.

When you post this:

QUOTE (the_crazy_honors @ Mar 8 2014, 01:23 AM) *
Someone voted CDO for first and second. tongue.gif Taking that in stride, I compiled a spreadsheet that calculates the average rank each team is expected to earn according to the first 10 responses received to this poll. I'll update it before bed and several times throughout the day tomorrow. Right now, CDO is expected to rank 1.0909 (everyone placed CDO first; one also placed them second). Second place is completely up in the air: Mountain View Mesa ranks 2.6667, Boulder Creek 3.0, Hamilton 4.0, Red Mountain 4.2222, and Westwood 4.4.

Edit: So this is interesting. I realized my method only averaged the ranks given by people who thought a school would make top 5, but that doesn't account for the people who don't think a school will make top 5. For example, 3 people ranked WW 4th, and 2 5th, giving the team a weighted rank of 4.4, but 5 people didn't even think WW would be in top 5. I added a 6th place since we just had 6 teams being ranked into five slots, and this changes the rankings to:
CDO 1.0909
Boulder Creek and Mountain View Mesa TIE with a weighted rank of 3 - no one knows who will win second. This change is because MVM only received nine votes placing it in top 5, so one person thinks MVM will be 6th (or lower, but I like keeping my math simple).
Red Mountain 4.4
Hamilton 4.8
Westwood 5.2

Or this:

QUOTE (the_crazy_honors @ Mar 9 2014, 12:46 PM) *
Wow, wow, wow. Congratulations to everyone! Caleb has my admiration and sympathy for competing while sick - I had quite the cold at my State. (I was chatting about this with a kid who sat near me in testing, and he said, "The nose-blowing was you?") Also very impressed with the ridiculously balanced teams. I'm fond of a measure that I call the Carrier Proportion: the percent of a team's points earned by its top member. The lowest possible is 16.7%, and the average team seems to be about 19%.

CDO: 17.81%
Boulder Creek: 18.09%
Mountain View Mesa: <18.18%

Very impressive. Nationals will be an interesting battle for sure.

Or this:

QUOTE (the_crazy_honors @ Mar 10 2014, 02:16 PM) *
Now that we have full information, I'd like to take a moment to congratulate some unsung heroes: the students who outperformed their school's programs, rising above and beyond what was expected of them and leading their team in the scores. Earlier, we said a low Carrier Proportion was a good thing, an indicator of a well-balanced team, but among teams below the top 5-10, students with high Carrier Proportions deserve praise for surpassing expectations.

The Fine Print: Many of the highest Carrier Proportions were earned by students competing on short-staffed teams. In the case of Arizona State 2014, there were three short-staffed teams. In all three, there were two varsities, but one or both did not compete in all ten events. To compensate for this, I have scaled up the average varsity score for a team in all events so that it reflects the same ratio out of two varsities times ten events per varsity equals twenty events. (For instance, one school had one varsity all weekend and one varsity in only subjectives; I found the average of the 13 varsity scores present and multiplied this average by twenty to find the scaled varsity total.) I will provide CPs reflecting scaled and unscaled team scores in these cases.

Mackenzie Kong-Sivert from Bioscience scored 32.32% of unscaled or 27.62% of scaled team points. The competition's lowest-scoring team boasted an honors over 7,000 points, beating each of her teammates by over three thousand points.
Antonia Marcheva from Skyline scored 7,879.1 of 32,461.2 points - 24.27%. Just shy of 7.9k is a solid score for an honors anywhere.
Jeffrey Austin Brooks from Basha scored 23.63% of his team's points. Scaled to account for a missing varsity, his CP becomes 20.87%, which is still above average.
Marti Rothlisberger from St. Johns scored 6845.4 of 29,457.9 points and has my admiration for having an epic last name.
Brendan Mance from BASIS Peoria scored 7925.3 points, accounting for 22.99% of the team score. He also won math with a 1000 and science with a 960.

It's easy to overlook individuals like these, many of whom are fairly good but not exceptional when we look at just their scores against those of other individuals. However, the students who outperform what is typical in their programs are the ones who have the power to bring a school to prominence. Chances are at least one of those five students is a junior or younger and could change his or her team forever. Let's not forget the carriers who may someday lead their teams to victory.
