So, there's this ongoing theme on this board of posting a lot about our respective love lives, although it's something I've mostly personally avoided. There's an equally strong theme of people getting angry/upset/annoyed about it. All that cutesy crap has a tendency to get us single people reaching for our <banned by ToS coping mechanism of choice>.

Instead of posting something like "PS: I love holding hands in public" or "UC: I can't stare into her eyes all night because I eventually have to sleep" six times a day in the Mega-Combined Emotions topic, or other such tomfoolery, how about this: a thread just for you. Be as cute as you smurfing want. Hold hands, sit around the campfire, sing Kumbaya, and laugh about how the rest of the board doesn't get to text "i miss u" to their significant other every 10 minutes. We'll enter at our own (emotional) peril.

That's not to say that you can't post about that stuff elsewhere, obviously. I'm not a mod or anything and don't have that kind of authority. But maybe keep it to a minimum, and if you really need an outlet for your overwhelming, if lamentably temporal, joy, turn here first.

He was the first city-builder. Perhaps the father of science and philosophy. His war was with God, the Father who spurned him. Of the two--him and Abel--only Cain possessed subjectivity. A complex inner life. It was said that Western man himself was Cain, cursed with the burden of restlessness and the endless quest for selfhood."

I've gotten "I missed you" only once, we don't ever stare into each other's eye for extended period of time, and we very rarely hold hands in public, and even then it's either under a table or while watching a movie.

We both love driving fast and just about anything else that gives us adrenaline rushes. Other than my worryingly-extensive knowledge of weapons, we're incredibly similar. She keeps me in check, for the most part.

Sorry if I seem to post about it a lot, but it really is about the only bright spot in my life right now, other than the slight possibility of getting a promotion with no added benefits at work.

No worries TTTA, I totally understand. And it wasn't even targeted at you in particular, plenty of posters here have been guilty of this. Also, the post was intended to be pretty much totally tongue-in-cheek.

But yeah, it tends to grate on people a bit, particularly when things aren't going so well for them in that particular sphere. So this seemed like a good compromise; post all you want about how great it is to be in a relationship, and anyone who doesn't want to see it... just don't open the thread.

Maybe that's under "special instructions" when ordering online...

Funny, my girlfriend was just joking with her mom about buying a stripper pole "for exercise" while they were at Spencer's. I tried to get her to convince her mom to buy her one for her dorm room (completely joking, of course), went over surprisingly well.

I feel like this joking post was really the most retch-worthy.

time for more "aaron & GF" stories

so my girl and i were in space because why the smurf not and we saw some evil space ducks barreling towards earth so we left our smores picnic behind on the moons of jupiter never to be seen again and we shot some missiles at them but it turned out they had RIDICULOUS shields like you wouldn't believe so we were in a pretty low jam (you know like a tribe song)

but then she was like "wait if they are barreling why not put them in a barrel" and i was like "that's ridiculous" and she was like "it is convenient because i have level 20043 barrel-smithing abilities" and i was like "OK that idea is stupid you're stupid but we can do it i guess" and she was like "ha ha ha ok cool"

so she waggled her ears and nose and suddenly this huge-ass barrel just like appeared and caught all the ducks and then i used my ridiculous muscles to throw them into jupiter where they became duck soup and then me and her went down to jupiter and got the duck soup but it had a lot of arsenic in it so we were poisoned and died

the end

Wow... so I had good luck with women this weekend. Actually, just one woman, but that's still perfect.
UC: "Good luck" for me just means "not bad luck"
UC2: She lives in a different city
HR: Ya, probably not going to ever see her again

Will, thank you for pinning this hilarity. I don't think we showed you enough appreciation.
Dude should get at least half a dozen of those roses.
